Summer Senior Sessions - Keep on Heating Up

Our summer senior sessions here at Blessings Photography have been a blast this summer. They sure have been hot though. Temperatures have already been outrageous. It's scary to think about what it will be like in July and August. We have enjoyed photographing 2011 seniors from J.B. Pennington, Cleveland, Douglas, and Oneonta so far. We have many more scheduled both inside Blount County and the surrounding areas including Cullman and Birmingham.
Today we are featuring a senior from Douglas. She is in the Douglas band and plays the saxophone. This girl loves jazz, and I just remembered something too. She was supposed to play us a tune, and we got so busy that we forgot to do that. Elizabeth has the best personality. She didn't even get upset when it rained. We just simply went out in it and shot anyway. It was a little tricky and we all got drenched, but it was well worth it! Thankfully, the rain did go away, and we were able to shoot here some on the farm too later that afternoon.

What clothes should I wear for my portrait session?
Clothing is a very important part of portraiture. Blessings Photography makes an extra effort to ensure backgrounds will accommodate and accent you. We have studied what looks best based on the type of portrait you are most interested in. We always recommend solids. Stripes and patterns usually take away from the portrait, except in rare instances. That is why Blessings Photography always makes it a point to have a FREE clothing consultation with you prior to your scheduled appointment.

Why should you come to Blessings Photography for senior portraits instead of the school photographer?
Most schools require that you get your formal senior portrait made with the school’s contracted photographer, but you are not obligated to purchase any pictures from that photographer. Coming to Blessings for your senior portrait allows you the additional benefit of not being limited by your school's early yearbook deadlines and the school studio's rushed sessions. You can schedule your pictures for when YOU want them. Fall sessions allow you to get some great outdoor shots. Another option is to have your senior portrait made in the spring when you are closer to graduating, so that your portraits would look more like you do when you graduate. You can even have your portrait made in the winter if that's when you would prefer. It's your choice!

Should I bring my sports equipment, jersey or instrument?
Most definitely! These items have been a big part of your high school experience and it makes up who you are. So, yes we want you to bring these types of props. They will make your portrait more meaningful to you. Other items you may want to consider include glasses, sunglasses, your letter jacket, jean jacket, leather coat, hats, stuffed animals, umbrellas, parasols, scarves, boots, etc... The more items you bring, the more variety you will have in your portrait. After scheduling your photo shoot, we will discuss and make recommendations on what to wear, how to pick out your outfits, make-up tips, etc.

What if my complexion is not perfect on the day scheduled for my appointment?
Do not worry! Proper make-up application is very important and can help in making sure your previews look their best. But after you've selected your final poses, we go through each image and touch up minor skin blemishes. This is often referred to as "retouching" and is one small part of what is involved in creating our finished prints. (Severe acne problems and other time-intensive retouching will incur additional charges.)

Can you get rid of my braces in my portraits?
If you have braces and do not want them shown on some or all of your images, just let us know and we will discuss options.

Where are you located?
Blessings Photography is located just off of 75 between Oneonta and Snead, Alabama. Our address is 790 King Road Oneonta, AL 35121. We are located in a beautiful part of the world with a beautiful view and lots of nature to enjoy while you visit. All of our hours are by appointment only (including photo shoots, ordering sessions, pick-ups, etc.) This ensures that we are available for you and not at another photo shoot destination when you arrive. We will travel for outdoor and on-location work, but you will need to contact us for rates.

Do you offer weekend and night appointments?
Yes, with the exception of Sunday. We do observe a day of rest on this day. Early morning and late afternoon sessions offer the best outdoor natural light.

Do you print your own photos?
No, we send all prints to a professional developing lab. This ensures quality prints and workmanship. All prints are printed on the best available photographic paper, and are color matched with our computer screen to the developing lab. This ensures that the colors are accurate, vivid, and life-like.
